Artists of all disciplines are invited to attend MAC's Artist Networking Event (ANE), held on the third Tuesday of each month from 5:30 – 7 pm unless otherwise announced. The purpose of the event is to provide artists in Monongalia County and the surrounding region with an opportunity to connect with fellow artists in a relaxed social setting. Similar to a Business After Hours for artists and patrons of the arts, the ANE is a gathering wherein artists from all disciplines—visual, literary and performance art—can come together to meet and talk about Art. Artists may stop by MAC for a short period or stay for the entire time. It is our intent to make this a worthwhile and meaningful event for our arts community… where relationships are developed and collaboration happens. This event does not have an admission fee and is open to artists from all disciplines
The MACglee choral ensemble is a group of adults who love to sing and perform. The group’s rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Monongalia Arts Center. MACglee performs in a variety of music styles and hosts a spring and holiday choral concert at MAC. Other concerts and performances are held as opportunities arise. MACglee welcomes new participants, and interested singers are invited to join in this select choral ensemble. All new singers must audition, and questions and interest in auditioning may be directed to MACglee Music Director Ken Godwin at 304-599-2431.
MAC is pleased to host the MACscriptwriters on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 – 7 pm. A supportive, positive, and encouraging environment focused on helping scriptwriters — both new and experienced — bring their new works to completion, MACscriptwriters is an opportunity for participants to hear their script read aloud; get feedback; and make their own revisions before it is published, submitted, or performed. MACscriptwriters is open to all types of scriptwriters, including playwrights, filmmakers, and comedians, as well as anyone writing musicals, living history, character monologues, television and/or any other type of public performance art. MACscriptwriters is facilitated by local Morgantown author Theodore Webb. For more information about MACscriptwriters, or to get on the group email list, email Webb at email@example.com.
Morgantown Drum Circle
Join the Morgantown Drum Circle, facilitated by Tammy Tennant, in an hour and a half long session of learning and drumming in a relaxed environment every other Monday night from 6 to 7:30 pm. Participants are invited to bring a hand percussion instrument of their choice if they have one (African, Middle Eastern, Native American, and other influences are more than welcome) and are welcome to borrow a “loaner” instrument if they do not. Morgantown Drum Circle is informal, with some teaching of drumming combined with jamming. Meeting times, event information, and public performance information is available on the group’s Facebook page or by contacting the group's facilitator by email. There is no fee for attending or participating.
Morgantown Poets is an informal not-for-profit, all-volunteer community group that meets from 7 – 9 pm on the third Thursday of each month at MAC. The group provides literary enthusiasts in north-central West Virginia with the opportunity to express themselves, share their work, and network and connects up-and-coming writers with more established authors. New writers are welcome. All are invited to join the Facebook group, subscribe to the mailing list at firstname.lastname@example.org, follow Morgantown Poets on Twitter at @MorgantownPoets, or watch videos of past events on the Morgantown Poets YouTube channel.
