Artist Networking NightMeet and connect with new people, get involved in community art projects and help make our community a more artful home!

This month's Artist Networking Night — at MAC on Tuesday, November 17 from 5:30 – 7 pm — will include featured speaker Tamarack Foundation Executive Director Alissa Novoselick. Alissa is responsible for Tamarack Foundation's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. Alissa provides leadership in the development of program, organizational, and financial plans and oversees their implementation with the Board of Directors and staff. Alissa is known for her expertise in nonprofit administration, economic development, and arts advocacy; and is very passionate about growing the creative economy of West Virginia.

From October 23 – 25, Monongalia Arts Center will host a photography class taught by Dan Friend and Bob Beverly.  The course will incorporate the basics of photography and digital photo editing while relying on the local resources provided by Morgantown. Participation includes activities such as observing a dark room, shooting pictures on-site at Coopers Rock, and a lesson in Photoshop.

MAC Hosts Three Public Writing Events in November

literary writing workshop macMonongalia Arts Center (MAC) is pleased to host three public writing events this month: the MAC Literary Writing Workshop (11/10), MACscriptwriters (11/10), and Morgantown Poets (11/19). All three MAC writing events are open to the public and do not have an admission fee.

On Tuesday, November 10 from 6 – 7 pm, MAC will host MACscriptwriters, a supportive, positive, and encouraging environment with a focus on helping scriptwriters — both new and experienced — bring their new works to completion. MACscriptwriters is open to all types of scriptwriters, including playwrights, filmmakers, and comedians, as well as anyone writing musicals, living history, character monologues, television and/or any other type of public performance art. MACscriptwriters is an opportunity for participants to hear their script read aloud; get feedback; and make their own revisions before it is published, submitted, or performed. National Beat Poetry Festival

Beat Poetry IMAGEMonongalia Arts Center (MAC) is pleased to host two events for Montani Semper Liberi Verse – as part of a Morgantown, West Virginia manifestation of the National Beat Poetry Festival – in conjunction with Morgantown Poets.

The Morgantown National Beat Poetry Festival, Montani Semper Liberi Verse, is made up of four events, running from September 17 – 19.  The events will include Daniel McTaggart, Rayna Momen, Mark Husk, Theodore Webb, William F. DeVault, and other special guests, as well as open mic opportunities for local artists.

The first event MAC will host is the festival's Opening Night. This event will occur on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 7 – 10 pm and will include featured readings and an open mic portion.
