ARTS Walk Returns To MAC: Art, Music and More…

TG post cardFriday, September 22 marks the return of the annual Morgantown ARTS Walk from 6 – 9 pm. The program, sponsored by Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau, Main Street Morgantown, Monongalia Arts Center (MAC) and Arts Monongahela, is intended to celebrate the hardworking arts community in Morgantown.

MAC will be one of the information points on the ARTS Walk, which features street vendors and events across High Street, and it will host programming as well. Two new art exhibitions will be unveiled during the event: Life In The Projects, and Transcending the Gutter. The public opening reception for the two events will take place from 6 – 9 pm in accordance with the ARTS Walk schedule, welcoming the public to experience and celebrate the artists’ work.

 

Life In The Projects, the first solo exhibition featuring John Michael Barone, will be featured downstairs in the Benedum Gallery. It will feature many of Barone’s signature pieces, featured in many of MAC’s previous exhibitions, as well as some new pieces. Barone is the executive director at Artist Collective West Virginia, and known for his psychedelic and mystical style and a love for pop culture and humor.

 

Transcending the Gutter will be featured upstairs in the Davis Gallery with contributions from multiple artists. This exhibition features musical performances by Orville Rex and Hericide at 9 pm, with a $5 cover charge.
