MACmusic: Mother Brown Plays for Nepal

Mother Brown MorgantownOn Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 8 pm, Monongalia Arts Center (MAC) will host MACmusic: Mother Brown Plays for Nepal, a concert to benefit Oxfam America’s Nepal Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund, in the Tanner Theatre. The concert has a $10 suggested minimum donation, all proceeds of which will go directly to Oxfam’s fund for Nepal.

The rock group – featuring Aaron Baughman and Erik Yoder on electric guitar, Jack Falbo on bass guitar, and Tony Vaglienti on drums – expresses, “We really want to support Oxfam in their aid to the people of Nepal after the tragic earthquake and thought playing a show in support would be fun for all.”

Erik Yoder, one of Mother Brown’s electric guitarists, adds, “I have had family members doing aid work in Nepal before, so this seemed right to be able to help out in some small way.”

On April 25, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal. To date, more than 7,500 have lost their lives, and the death toll is still climbing. According to Oxfam America – a global organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice – Oxfam aid workers are on the ground, providing clean water, latrines, and emergency shelter to people who can’t return to their damaged homes.

Yoder says about Oxfam America’s work, “Even when we cannot be on the ground, we can facilitate their work. Please donate whatever you can, by attending our benefit concert or by visiting Oxfam America’s website.”

Donations to Oxfam America’s Nepal Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund are currently being accepted online here.
